What is an Artifact Portfolio?
Why do we need to create one?
What are things that can be put in our Artifact Portfolio?
- An Artifact Portfolio is simply a collection of various items that can be looked back on in the years after our students complete the Discipleship Academy program. A great place to put these items is in a Faith Chest or a memory box.
Why do we need to create one?
- Artifacts provide evidence of learning, knowledge, skills, experiences, and accomplishments.
- The process of creating an Artifact Portfolio is one that helps to create deeper meaning and signifies the importance of this meaningful process and stage of their faith journey's.
- Our hope is that these physical reminders of what they learned and did will helpful to them in the future as they continue their journey of faith.
What are things that can be put in our Artifact Portfolio?
- Artifacts can include a wide range of items, such as examples of work, written or recorded reflections, notes taken during a course, some sort of physical reminder of this specific part of your journey.
- Examples:
- after participating in a seminar course you can keep a copy of the reflection to a question you might be asked to turn in or write your own if one is not required.
- if you participate in youth group or help as an acolyte, think of a physical item that helps you remember your experiences in our faith community that can be kept as a reminder later in life.
- you could record the main takeaways you learned from each seminar in a journal and write about your other experiences of faith
- photos from events like trips, camps, youth group, or helping with worship
